I’ve long hoped for a time when I can design how I want to.

In the last 6 months it’s become clear that this is going to be possible, and soon. We’re now seeing a cambrian explosion of new tools enter the market as Figma’s dominance (and share price) falters.

I’ve been exploring this space myself, but as part of that exploration I’ve wanted to understand which tools are good for solving what problem. So I decided to map them.

This is a work in progress and I’m still trying to figure out the categorisation and taxonomy, but hopefully will prove useful to others in the meantime.
